Book Review for “The Other Jesus”- Christian Non-fiction

I was given a copy of “The Other Jesus” by the author in exchange for an honest review. Dave Campbell makes some wonderful observations on how we see Jesus, where we get our idea’s from and some changes we have to make in our thinking. He lines that all up with what the Bible says about Jesus and how we have imagined Jesus wrongly.Though I didn’t agree with everything 100% (can we ever), I did find this a very insightful. Dave has an easy writing style and this was a joy to read. Where some non-fiction, even inspirational, can be dry, this one was not. I give it a solid 4 stars. I will be reading more from this author.

What a wonderful middle grade story! A young girl has lost hope until she meets Wild Thing, the white Arabian who cannot be tamed. This is a story of redemption, forgiveness and the love of God and family. Easy to read, with tons of horse facts throughout and some definitions along with a ‘horse parts’ picture. It made me remember with fondness my horse stage in my middle grade years. I give “Wild Thing” 5 stars. This is only book #1. I think there are 8 in the series.

Book Review for “Clockwork Dragon” Christian Fiction

This is a hard one to review. Many short stories by various authors, with the same theme of the clockwork dragon. Some sad, some happy, some humans, some fairies and some mer-people. I loved some, liked some and some were just ok. So I guess is I average them all out, I can give a solid 3 stars. It was a fun read. It gave me taste of the styles of the different authors. I had only read work by one of them before. It’s a good place to start, before buying full length books. Can recommend this book for teens and up. As of today, it is free on amazon for the kindle version.

Book Review for “Daylight in Blossom” Christian Fiction

Another good Christian fiction story from Scott McElhaney. They are always .99 on amazon Kindle version. A girl with a troubled past. Her cousin who is her ‘superhero’ and some mystery. A great read. Simple writing style. Sound characters. Loved it. Will continue to read more from this author. I give “Daylight in Blossom” five stars.

Book Review for “Rethana’s Trial” Book Two of the Lightwalker Series-Fantasy

I really enjoyed reading book one of this series, “Rethana’s Surrender.” A great fantasy with a new language, strong characters and a great story line. Book two, “Rethana’s Trial” was even better! Great author, and great story. Will definitely be reading more by this author. I can recommend this book to teens and up. I give it a solid 5 stars. Well done.

Book Review for “Rethana’s Surrender” Fiction-Fantasy (Series)

It happens to be FREE on Amazon Ebook version at the time of this review.

I enjoyed Rethana’s Surrender. Courtney Cantrell is a new author for me and I found I really liked her writing style. The main character is a strong, yet flawed young woman. There are various struggles, twists and turns, and many obstacles to overcome. I think the language and the way the characters speak bring a smile to my face, there is some humor inserted throughout the book. The first book finished in a good place, leaving the rest of the story unfinished, but at a good junction. I am ordering the second book right away. I can recommend this book for teens and up. I give the book a solid 4 stars.

Book Review for “How Sweet It Is” – Christian Romance

Bonnie Blythe has written a sweet Christian romance. It isn’t preachy and the love story is tender and fun. You can’t go wrong with chocolate and love. The theme is a damsel in distress and a hunky ex-surfer who have a chance meeting while in Europe. I give it 4 stars. A great weekend book. This book is suitable for teens and up due to it’s clean content.
