Book Review for “Mud, Rock, and Trees”- Christian Fantasy

What the books are about: “”An epic journey of a lifetime.” That’s what three young individuals from three different corners of the world have dreamed about. They were destined for greatness since the moment they were born. But what if they don’t want it? What if they’re not ready? What if their desires no longer align with the prophecy?
The problem is, they have no choice. The star has appeared. Their destiny has already begun to unfold.
It’s not the send-off that they’ve been dreaming of. Forced out. Banished. Raided. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be. Now they must discover who they really are while embarking on the most exciting journey of their lives. One star. One impossible task. One chance to save the world they love. “

My Review:

This is one of my favorite fantasy series. It has a very imaginative storyline. I have enjoyed each of the six books and am a bit sorry to say goodbye to the characters.
I found book one in this series as a freebie on Amazon. I loved it! So when the author saw my review and offered to let me read the remaining books in the series, of course I said yes. This one just kept getting better with each book. The characters are fleshed out, flawed, and feel like friends and family. The author has created a world where several races of people struggle to survive. “Deliverers” is the final book in the series and was just as good as all of the other five. There is a Christian viewpoint in these books, but they don’t come across as cheesy or preachy. I give it five stars. Wonderful epic fantasy. I can recommend for teens and up.

Book Review for “External Forces” – YA Dystopian Fiction

This was a great dystopian YA read. The society in this future has shut out those that have deviated from their “norm” and those inside the walls are trained to hate those outside. A mix of military, romance and friendship. I would recommend for high school and up due to some sexual content. Nothing too explicit. This is the first in a series and I will be reading the rest. The book ends in a good place, but doesn’t finish the story. I wouldn’t read it as a stand alone, though I guess you could. My curiosity wants to find out about the rest of the story. Good writing, some of the romance a little predictable, but usually is. Great first book for Deborah Rix! I give it a solid 4 stars.

Book Review for “Rethana’s Surrender” Fiction-Fantasy (Series)

It happens to be FREE on Amazon Ebook version at the time of this review.

I enjoyed Rethana’s Surrender. Courtney Cantrell is a new author for me and I found I really liked her writing style. The main character is a strong, yet flawed young woman. There are various struggles, twists and turns, and many obstacles to overcome. I think the language and the way the characters speak bring a smile to my face, there is some humor inserted throughout the book. The first book finished in a good place, leaving the rest of the story unfinished, but at a good junction. I am ordering the second book right away. I can recommend this book for teens and up. I give the book a solid 4 stars.

Book Review for “Foreverland is Dead”

I was given a copy of “Foreverland is Dead” by the author, Tony Bertauski, in exchange for an honest review. This one kept me on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. I stayed up way too late and picked it up firs thing in the morning to finish it! Then the ending completely blew me away. I can almost always figure out the plot line, but this one kept me guessing until the end. It’s a story of an alternate reality populated by teenage girls who are trapped. The story is gritty and fast paced. I really enjoyed it. I would definitely read more from this author and am looking forward to the next book in the Foreverland series. I give the book 5 stars. I would recommend it for age 13 and up.
