I loved this book! Military, dystopian, and some romance. A book for guys or gals. Written without swearing and sexual content (some implied), and some un-cheesy Christian content that does not distract from the story. Post Great War, the controlling government is set up in what used to be the US. One nameless soldier is the key. There is fighting and violence. I can recommend for ages 14 and up. A great read, and a favorite new author. This is the first in a series and I am looking forward to book two! Kept me on my seat! I give it a solid 5 stars.

Book Review for “Path of Darkness”- Fiction/Fantasy
I was given a copy of “Path of Darkness” book two of the “Seekers Burden” by the author, Mark Lein, in exchange for an honest review. This was a good fantasy. The first book in the series “An Emerging Threat,” set the foundation. this book continues with the characters, lands and peoples. Good writing, interesting plot. These are not stand alone books, you need to read the first to understand and book two ends pretty abruptly. I really liked it. I am looking forward to reading the rest. I can recommend to teens and up. No swearing and no sexual content, (no romance). There is violence and fighting. I give it 4 stars.
Book Review for “Embers and Ice”- Fiction/Fantasy
I was given a copy of “Embers & Ice” by the author, Isabella Modra, in exchange for an honest review. I really liked book one, “Rouge”, so I was thrilled when asked to read book two. It was so great that I am going to have to try to be patient waiting for the next book. The theme of these books are young mutants who have all different “powers.” In book two we meet several new characters. The author does a good job in rounding out her characters. The main lead is a strong teenage girl. She has heroic tendencies, has some issues, and is very likable. Due to the nature of some of the scenes, which aren’t terribly explicit, (rape and torture), and a small amount of swearing, I can’t recommend for readers younger than 16. I give it 4 stars. Good fantasy writing. There is no sappy romance, but an element of it throughout the books so far. I think these books would appeal to guys and gals.
Book Review for “Elderberry Croft- Volume 2”- Christian Fiction
I loved the first book in this series and I have to say this one is just as good. A trailer park full of real people with problems and a young mysterious woman who brings something new into the mix. I will be continuing this series. A nice refreshing read! I always love a Christian book that is not “preachy”! Well done Becky Doughty! My rating is five stars. I can recommend this book for any age group, though most of the material is adult oriented. The characters are over 30.
Book Review for “Journey into the Deep”- Christian Fiction
Guy Stanton III has begun a new series “Water Wars” with “Journey into the Deep.” I have to say there are still some grammar and editing issues with Guy’s writing, but again I must also say the writing is good. The story line is interesting and from an unapologetic Christian view. Guy’s characters are flawed and his writing never comes across as preachy. Good for men and women as it includes action, fighting, and romance. In this story a treasure hunter with a death wish finds more than he wants to in a strange artifact. I give it 4 stars. Didn’t love this one, but I liked it and it was a good read. I am sure I will read the rest of the series as I have read all of the other two series. Just a warning, if you like your Christian fiction without talk of passion, killing, and or imperfect people, these books aren’t for you. However, if you like it to be real…
Book Review for “Me and Georgette”- Regency Fiction
What a fun read! I like Regency Romance and this one was not your typical storyline. A modern, 21st century Jewish career woman is thrown into the past. What a mixed up event. If you like Regency, you’ll love it. I give it 4 stars. I really liked it. I was given a copy of this book, by Story Cartel, in exchange for an honest review. I can recommend this to everyone. No sexual content and no swearing.
Book Reviews for “Divergent”, “Insurgent”, and “Allegiant”- YA Dystopian Fiction
Divergent-
One of my new favorites! I so love this book. I know I will read it again. Dystopian at it’s finest. Easy writing style. Well rounded characters!! Flawed and real. There is violence, but no swearing or sexual content. Set in a futuristic society where people have been grouped by their character traits. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. That good. On to book two.
Insurgent-
At first I thought this one wasn’t as good as book one, but as I got farther along in the story, it was just as good! A great dystopian book set in Chicago. Society is set in “Factions” that dictate pretty much everything in your life. This story is about those who don’t fit the mold. More plot twists in this one. Looking forward to starting the final book. One of my new favorite authors. I give it 5 stars. No swearing and no sexual content. Just good drama and action, with some romance (the non-sappy kind) thrown in. Great read!
Allegiant-I finished the last book of the “Divergent” series! I loved this series. It was all about loyalty, sacrifice, love and human nature, the good and the bad. Veronica Roth is now one of my favorite authors and I will be looking for more from this author. I can recommend this book for High School age and up. No swearing, or sexual content, there is violence. I give it a solid 5 stars! (These books have to be read in sequence.)
