Psalm Confession

Psalms Confession – From Psalm 4:3, 37:4, 65:4, 66:9, 112:1-9, 116:1, and 145:14, 20

The Lord has set me apart for Himself. I belong to Him and no other. My heart is not divided, so He hears me when I call. Just like a parent is always tuned in to the call of his own child, even above the noise.

Because I delight in the Lord, He will give me the deep desires of my heart. Not only does He place Godly desires there through His promises and His Spirit, He wants me happy and fulfilled.

God causes me to come near Him. He causes my family to come near Him as well. He is my confidence and hope. I can trust Him with my whole heart.

Because He does not allow my foot to slip, I am secure. My Heavenly Father keeps me alive through every circumstance. In fact, He brings me out into a wealthy place. My Lord never rejects my prayers and He will not remove His mercy and loving-kindness from me, ever.

Because I fear and reverently honor Him and I delight in His unfailing word, I am blessed. Wealth and riches are in my home and I am righteous forever. Having wealth will not harm me, it is a merely a tool to provide for my family, to help others, and to further God’s Kingdom. During these dark days, His light dawns for me. Because I trust in His provision, I am generous and I lend to the poor. I do not fear bad news, my heart remains steadfast.

I love the Lord. He hears me, even in my cry for mercy. Because He always listens, I will call on Him as long as I live.

God picks me up when I fall and He constantly watches over me to perform His word in my life. Because I love Him, He preserves me until the end of my days.

Thank You Lord, for Your steadfast love, for your unending mercy, and for Your constant provision.

Book Reviews for “Divergent”, “Insurgent”, and “Allegiant”- YA Dystopian Fiction

Divergent-
One of my new favorites! I so love this book. I know I will read it again. Dystopian at it’s finest. Easy writing style. Well rounded characters!! Flawed and real. There is violence, but no swearing or sexual content. Set in a futuristic society where people have been grouped by their character traits. I’d give it 6 stars if I could. That good. On to book two.

Insurgent-
At first I thought this one wasn’t as good as book one, but as I got farther along in the story, it was just as good! A great dystopian book set in Chicago. Society is set in “Factions” that dictate pretty much everything in your life. This story is about those who don’t fit the mold. More plot twists in this one. Looking forward to starting the final book. One of my new favorite authors. I give it 5 stars. No swearing and no sexual content. Just good drama and action, with some romance (the non-sappy kind) thrown in. Great read!

Allegiant-I finished the last book of the “Divergent” series! I loved this series. It was all about loyalty, sacrifice, love and human nature, the good and the bad. Veronica Roth is now one of my favorite authors and I will be looking for more from this author. I can recommend this book for High School age and up. No swearing, or sexual content, there is violence. I give it a solid 5 stars! (These books have to be read in sequence.)

Under Construction

Web-under-construction[1]

So I always knew I was slightly technologically challenged, but I found out for sure when I tried to change my website to a new host! Thankfully several young helpers were able to talk me through parts and at some points just do the work for me. It was humbling.

Isn’t that the way it is?

First we have to admit that there is something better out there for us. Then we have to acknowledge that we can’t do it on our own, possibly don’t even know where to start. Finally, we surrender our pride and say, “HELP.”

The final outcome is better!

I John 3:2 (NIV), “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”

PS: thanks for being patient while I worked out all the kinks in my website. I do now have my books available here and you can check out securely with paypal.

I just loved this book! Great dystopian. Loved the characters, the twists and turns, and the whole outcast of society theme. I am so looking forward to the next in the series. I did get a little confused at the end, and had to slow down and read it again, but it will all come out clearer I am sure in the next book. Good writing and a Goodread! I give it 5 stars. Clean enough for ages 13 and up, it may be hard for some to follow along. No sex and no swearing. I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review

Had A Bad Day?

imagesCAKKXSKF

All bad days aren’t the same. Sometimes our circumstances are rotten, but we come out smelling like a rose. We keep a good attitude and we are able to just keep going. My husband likes to say that is like “water off a ducks back.” Then, there are those bad days where we “lose it,” our minds, our tempers… maybe even our witness.
We’ve all had one, Ok, maybe a few more than that. Does that mean we have messed up the whole faith thing? Do we have to go back to “start?” What kind of punishment does God have worked out for us?

Let me remind you of just a few who had bad days:
Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. Then was falsely accused and sent to prison.
Moses spent over forty years leading a bunch of whiny, complaining, hard hearted people.
David had a king trying to kill him several times, sinned with Bathsheba, and had quite a few bad days.
Paul persecuted the early Church, was beaten, thrown into prison, shipwrecked (twice), and also had more than his fare share of bad days.
Peter denied Christ, even after Jesus warned him.
Jesus had some. He was rejected by His own people, He was mocked, ridiculed, the religious leaders sought to kill Him, and we haven’t even mentioned Gethsemane, or Calvary.

James 1:2-3 (NIV), “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

I think it is safe to say that a bad day constitutes a “trial.” It is trying to live in this fallen world. Sometimes our messes are of our own making, and sometimes we just land in them due to no fault of our own. Either way, count it joy. Don’t live there. Don’t glorify the circumstances. Look to God. Repent if needed and move on. Find out what God has to say about it. So you lost it, so what! Those people mentioned above did too.

Joseph saved all of Egypt and his whole family from starvation.
Moses spoke with God face to face.
God called David “a man after My own heart,” and he was given the design of the temple.
Paul wrote most of the New Testament.
Peter brought salvation to the Gentiles and was a leader in the early Church.
And Jesus, well, He fulfilled the law, saved the whole world…you know, all that wonderful stuff!

James told us that that we will mature when our faith is tested.
Don’t let a bad day dictate your future! Move on, move ahead. Don’t remember them. God doesn’t.

Book Review for “Prophetic Guide to the End Times” – Christian Non Fiction

I love Derek Prince to begin with and have read several of his books. I had to read this one for a college class and I can’t begin to say how grateful I am that I read it. We can all agree that things are looking shaky these days, and this book gives us hope for facing the future. God has a plan and as always His plan for His children in an expected (good) end. I recommend for all Christians. I give it 5 stars.

Book Review for “Planet Bound”- Science Fiction

I was given a copy of “Planet Bound” by the author, A. Marie Dinsmore, in exchange for an honest review. I liked the book. I would have liked the story better if the characters were a little more rounded. Also we are introduced to so many that have little or no part to play other than showing that they feel rejected, which is a common theme in this book. Potential for a good story. The storyline itself is interesting. Human kind is on a quest to find habitable planets. Tough female lead. I liked it. I give it three stars. High School age and up. Some language.
