Ok, so I know I said book three was my favorite, but… this one is even better. The only bone I have to pick is that it isn’t the last book! The next one is supposed to come out sometime early 2016. Wonderful allegory that retells the story of God’s love and forgiveness through his son. Though the words “God” and “Jesus” aren’t used. Good writing, great fantasy with all the quirky characters including some beasts and creatures, and well rounded characters. No sexual content or swearing. There is romance and there is violence. Epic story of good versus evil. I give it five stars, loved it, and can recommend for ages teens and up (and any fantasy love, you do not have to be a Christian to enjoy this book!) While I am waiting for book five, I see the author has written a few “stories” about the White Road, so….

Book Review for “Starflower”-Christian Fiction Fantasy

Anne Elisabeth Stengl weaves a great fairytale/allegory in her “Goldstone Woods” series. Each book is a stand alone, but with each one we see more of the back story and how things began. The immortal characters are introduced, or re-introduced to us and we find out how they came to either serve the dragon king, or the Prince of Farthestshore. Well written, it sucks you into the story. You can’t help but feel like you are there and that you know each one of the characters. I loved “Starflower” as much as the others. It answered some of my questions about how some of characters in the first two books ended up where they were. After reading this one I found my self thinking, “oh, that’s why they called her that,” or “so he is the one the song was about.” I would give this book more than five stars if I could. No swearing or sexual content. There is violence and fighting, some scary images for youngsters. I recommend for teens and up. 5+ stars from me! If you like fantasy, but have trouble finding suitable ones for Christians, this series is it!

Book Review for “Tears of a Heart”-Fantasy Fiction

I was given a copy of “Tears of a Heart” by the author, Chase Blackwood, in exchange for an honest review. This is the first of a series that will be a great epic fantasy. Not a quick or short read, but involved with many characters and places. The characters are not shallow, but very “fleshed out.” The story line is endearing and you can’t help rooting for the main character. He is a teen who faced insurmountable obstacles in his young life, but manages to make friends and form bonds along the way. The writing style is similar to that of Tolkien. My only complaint is that the other books are not out in print yet, so I will have to be patient. No swearing and no sexual content. I give it 5 stars. Can recommend to teens and up. As of the time of this review the book is being offered for free Kindle version on Amazon.

Book Review for “Path of Darkness”- Fiction/Fantasy

I was given a copy of “Path of Darkness” book two of the “Seekers Burden” by the author, Mark Lein, in exchange for an honest review. This was a good fantasy. The first book in the series “An Emerging Threat,” set the foundation. this book continues with the characters, lands and peoples. Good writing, interesting plot. These are not stand alone books, you need to read the first to understand and book two ends pretty abruptly. I really liked it. I am looking forward to reading the rest. I can recommend to teens and up. No swearing and no sexual content, (no romance). There is violence and fighting. I give it 4 stars.

I just loved this book! Because It had all three books in one volume, it was a very long read. I read and read, cried and cried, chuckled and read some more. Then when it all finished up, I was not ready to say goodbye to all my new friends! This is an epic fantasy, many characters, (think of Tolkien’s books), it is the usual good versus evil plot. I can’t even imagine the time put into the names, lands, peoples and creatures, the different languages and customs. The characters were lovable, and my two favorite were Belo and Rafe, who were both “Amazing Nice,” and provided some comic relief. I had this book on my reading list and was thrilled when the Author, Bob Craton, offered me a copy in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I’ll read this one again, maybe more than once. 5 stars from me! Appropriate for Jr. High and up. Well done Mr. Craton.

You get all three books in one for only $4.99 Kindle version! Well worth the money!

Book Review for “A Warrior’s Legacy” – Christian Science Fiction/Fantasy

Guy Stanton III has done the almost impossible, he has continued a series where things jut keep getting better! Loved book three of “The Warrior Kind” series. I was given the first three books in exchange for an honest review. I liked all so much that I have purchased the remaining book as well as one in his other series. Even though there are some grammatical errors, and part of the story is told in the first person, while other parts are not, I still have to give five stars. I pretty much read this one straight through. Wonderful new world and creatures, great Sci fi and fantasy all wrapped up from a Christian view point. Faith, family and perseverance are the main themes of these books. Enough action and battle for the guys, with enough romance for the girls! Teens and up for my reading recommendation.

Book Review for “Rethana’s Surrender” Fiction-Fantasy (Series)

It happens to be FREE on Amazon Ebook version at the time of this review.

I enjoyed Rethana’s Surrender. Courtney Cantrell is a new author for me and I found I really liked her writing style. The main character is a strong, yet flawed young woman. There are various struggles, twists and turns, and many obstacles to overcome. I think the language and the way the characters speak bring a smile to my face, there is some humor inserted throughout the book. The first book finished in a good place, leaving the rest of the story unfinished, but at a good junction. I am ordering the second book right away. I can recommend this book for teens and up. I give the book a solid 4 stars.
